Objectives

By implementing this project, we aimed to reduce the mathematics anxiety of primary school students. We sought to educate pre-service teachers and primary school teachers on how to teach mathematics engagingly through robotics applications. Additionally, the project was designed to enhance professional development through the creation of a scenario-based video library and an e-book, resources that could be utilized both during their studies and after graduation. The main objectives of this project were: 1. To develop innovative methods and techniques aimed at reducing math anxiety in primary schools. 2. To increase pre-service teachers' awareness of educational practices capable of eliminating math anxiety. 3. To mitigate future challenges that prospective teachers may face. 4. To create an easy-to-learn and easy-to-teach scenario-based library of robotics applications for teaching mathematics. 5. To produce a reference book on robotics applications in mathematics teaching that could be perpetually useful for prospective teachers in blended learning environments. 6. To inspire elementary school students to pursue careers in scientific fields. 7. To equip students with innovative and creative thinking skills.

Background

We applied for this project because mathematics education is a crucial sector in education that enhances social integration, supports scientific studies, boosts individual self-confidence, and opens up pathways to better future professions. Without the application of mathematical thinking, many everyday problems cannot be successfully resolved. However, due to varying rates at which students reach abstract thinking maturity and the use of inappropriate teaching methods in mathematics, many develop math anxiety. The project aimed to alleviate students' math anxiety by developing a new and innovative training curriculum, incorporating modern learning and teaching methodologies. Specifically, the project focused on utilizing robotics in primaty school mathematics education through a blended learning model, capitalizing on the digital environments that students find engaging and are likely to be integral to the future of education. To further this initiative, the project also planned to train pre-service primary school teachers in using robotics to teach mathematics via a blended approach. To support their training and future teaching, we intended to provide a modular curriculum, along with a scenario-based video library and an e-book
