Objectives

The primary objectives of our project were centered on developing an innovative maintenance and repair curriculum tailored for departments related to solar energy in vocational and technical education schools. The overarching goal was to enhance our capacity to predict and prevent malfunctions in solar energy systems. The objectives included integrating information communication technologies and artificial intelligence for predictive maintenance of solar panels. Educational tools were created to align with the curriculum, intended for use in relevant vocational high school departments. The project also organized training programs at the secondary education level to cover maintenance, repair, and planning processes for solar energy systems, ultimately enhancing the capabilities of students in addressing malfunctions and promoting sustainable practices in the field. By achieving these objectives, our project aimed to contribute to the advancement of education in solar energy maintenance and repair. Innovative technologies and the development of a specialized curriculum were designed to empower students with the skills and knowledge necessary to predict, prevent, and address malfunctions in solar energy systems.

Background

We applied for the project due to the pressing global environmental issue of global warming, driven by increased carbon dioxide levels and the greenhouse effect. Recognizing solar energy as a key solution, being a more stable, sustainable and environmentally friendly energy source, we aimed to address the need for skilled personnel in maintaining and repairing solar energy systems. Solar panels can be damaged over time, due to weather conditions, temperature changes, pollutants and UV rays. Solar panels need periodic maintenance to maintain cell performance levels and reduce economic losses. Focusing on Susurluk, we trained students to contribute to environmental protection and climate change mitigation. The project sought to make solar energy systems more appealing through innovative maintenance approaches, aligning with our commitment to sustainable practices and combating climate change.
