The InC Project aimed to cultivate an innovation culture within SMEs, focusing on those in low and no-tech sectors, with the following core objectives: 1. Develop Tools for Innovation Culture: To create practical tools and methodologies for SMEs to foster an environment that supports innovation. 2. Enhance Innovation Management Competencies: To equip SME managers with the skills needed to implement and sustain an innovation culture. 3. Promote Employee Engagement: To encourage a participatory approach to innovation, involving employees at all levels in ideation and decision-making. 4. Facilitate Knowledge Exchange: To provide platforms for sharing insights, successes, and best practices among SMEs and stakeholders. 5. Strengthen SME Innovation Capacity: To enhance the ability of SMEs to develop innovative products, services, and business models. 6. Ensure Sustainable Impact and Scalability: To ensure the project's tools and methodologies have a lasting impact and can be scaled beyond the project's duration. Through these objectives, the InC Project sought to transform SMEs into more innovative, competitive, and sustainable entities within the European market.
The motivation behind initiating the InC Project was primarily driven by the partners’ aim to enhance the skills of low-skilled adults and aligning HR competencies with evolving market needs. The project emerged from a critical observation: a significant gap in the innovation culture within organizations, particularly noted in the reluctance or inability of SME managers to involve employees in decision-making processes. This gap was identified as a major barrier to engaging SMEs in innovation activities, crucial for achieving competitive advantage. The EU's challenge in broadening SME participation in innovation activities underscored the necessity for a strategic intervention. The InC Project specifically aimed to address these challenges by fostering an innovation culture among SMEs, particularly in no/low tech. By equipping SME managers with the tools and competencies to cultivate an environment conducive to innovation, the project sought to bridge the divide between individual potential and organizational innovation capacity. The overarching goal was to transform organizational cultures to be more innovation-oriented, enabling SMEs to navigate and thrive in an increasingly competitive and dynamic market landscape.
