Objectives

The primary objective of the DIS-employability project was to provide disabled individuals with essential employability skills, primarily focusing on developing critical thinking abilities. By enhancing these skills, we aimed to facilitate their inclusion in the labor market. Our goal extended beyond skill-building to address systemic barriers and discriminatory practices, fostering a more inclusive environment. Ultimately, the project aimed to empower disabled individuals to compete equally in the job market and contribute meaningfully to society.

Background

The DIS-employability project aimed to address the significant challenges individuals with disabilities encounter in accessing the labor market and securing meaningful employment. Over 24 months, it brought together European entities committed to support disabled individuals in the field of Youth Education. The primary objective was to equip them with essential employability skills, emphasizing critical thinking. This focus stemmed from recognizing their rights under the "UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities". Despite international protections, systemic barriers persist, as revealed by Eurostat data and the 2019 International Labour Organization report. The project aimed to overcome these barriers by providing practical skills and support. Target groups included youth workers, disabled individuals aged 18+, and educators, with indirect beneficiaries spanning various stakeholders. Through collaboration, the project sought to create a comprehensive support network to promote the social inclusion of disabled individuals in employment opportunities.
