Objectives

With this project, we wanted to improve the professional knowledge of students of veterinary and agricultural profession. By practicing in another country, they were able to learn what they didn't have in our country. They adopted different work habits. We wanted to improve their English skills, as well as to adopt the basics of German language, to improve their social skills, learn to work as a team. They were staying in a foreign country without their parents, so they learned to take care of themselves. We wanted to improve the professional competences of our teachers of veterinary, agricultural and food processing profession, language and IT competences. We wanted them to learn how the dual educational system in Germany works, how practical classes are organized and how the school is associated with economic subjects. Each teacher in his field of expertise has improved their knowledge, in order to transfer it to students in their class.

Background

Secondary vocational school “Stevan Petrović Brile“ educates students in the field of agriculture, production and food processing, as well as the areas of health and social welfare. This project was created as a need of the Secondary Vocational School “Stevan Petrović Brile“ for professional training of students of agricultural and veterinary profession and vocational teachers. The school found a partner from Germany who enabled students to practice in business subjects related to their profession and for teachers tour of companies related to their area of work. Students were on mobility for fourteen days, and teachers were on job shadowing for seven days, all along with the days spent on the road. Both groups improved their professional knowledge, knowledge of English and they also learned the basics of German language. The students became independent, learned to work as a team, to share living space and obligations with each other, as well as with students from other countries who were also accommodated on campus at the time they were placed there. They met new culture, their work habits, dual teaching system. It was a new experience they couldn't acquire in their surrounding.
