Objectives

With the help of a youth worker from a Serbian organization, youngsters talked about values that activists should possess, what drives them, who are their heroes and heroines. They decided to find out more, from youngsters coming from different backgrounds and countries. So they invited partner organizations and made a survey (see annex) to be filled by youngsters from all the partner organisations in order to know who the heroes and heroines they like and why, what values they have, and gave the task to youngsters to make short research about youth activism in their communities (see annex). Here they compare different realities and noticed that majority of youngsters do not take part in decision-making processes, that youngsters mainly participate in youth exchanges, activities, and actions organized by youth leaders/workers, they do not create activities by themselves. Young people from all partner countries are not so much engaged in local communities, in rural areas the situation is even worst. They concluded youth activism is on the low level and youth participation in the decision-making processes is not well-presented to young people. This project intends to involve mostly young people with fewer opportunities (economical, geographical, educational, social). Partners already have a group of youngsters facing different obstacles. They grow up in a world that promotes democracy, activism, openness, cooperation, tolerance, solidarity, etc (positive values), but they are not informed, they face discrimination, stereotyping, prejudices and they are aware that the change must be taken. With the influence of globalization phenomena and the Covid-19 pandemic in the whole world, youngsters, especially those with fewer opportunities are particularly stricken. The school system did not respond in the best way in distance learning, physical distance disturbs the mental health of youngsters, they feel not respected and their opinion is not valued because some restrictive measures are not allowing them to travel, to use programs of non-formal education, to socialize with other young people, to be involved in youth work, to communicate their needs/issues/challenges, to be involved in making changes in the community, all the social life has been stopped and still is. It is hard to be young at the present time in all our countries. That is why we went into the world of hero(in)es (represented by Middle Age perception of values) to produce magic in our community and to re-think current values and possibilities of young people, a new hero(in)es, to be engaged in the community and send youth voice messages to other young people to engage, connect and empower themselves. The project goal is to engage, connect and empower youngsters including those with fewer opportunities to become responsible citizens who are active, with critical awareness, and with supportive behavior in the local and European community. Objectives: • To empower youngsters with fewer opportunities from passive consumer behavior to active participation while taking care about gender perspective. • To support youth advocacy and activism within youth empowerment as an outcome in which youth, as change actors gain the skills to impact own lives and lives of other youngsters and the communities as a whole • To experience multiculturalism through meeting and working with youngsters coming from a different cultural backgrounds • To discover new approaches in non-formal learning influencing youth participation. • To become aware of the European community and to use opportunities of the Erasmus + program as a tool for the development of the culture of youth participation. Youth voice in community, participation, citizenship, citizen education, and engagement are topics partners want to mainstream in the commitment of youngsters they are working with. Partners want to provide supportive, positive environments for youngsters and opportunities to develop their capacities.
