In this project, we wanted to assimilate new knowledge and new ideas that help us meet the needs we had identified in our evaluations. Our specific objectives were to (1) help our students increase their motivation and sense of goal fulfillment in the classroom, (2) teach our students to understand the importance of a sustainable and democratic society, (3) increase well-being and reduce the students’ sense of stress in the school environment, and (4) develop our school culture in a successful way. Our general objective was to develop a greater understanding of the role of school and education in an international perspective, and increased proficiency in digital communication platforms. At the French school of Gothenburg we follow the fundamental values of our principal organisation Medborgarskolan. These values are similar to some of the paragraphs in the Swedish school law. There are four of these values: Focus on the individual, Mutual respect, Cooperative development, Intrinsic value of knowledge. These values correspond with our objectives in this project. Since the start of our school in 2000 we endeavour to develop our school culture in order to make the francophile features in teaching and traditions.
Franska skolan Göteborg is a Swedish primary and secondary school with a French profile. It's a multicultural school following the Swedish curriculum. All our pupils study more French than in other Swedish schools. They start French lessons already at the age of 6. The school has also features of French speaking culture and traditions. The French School of Göteborg wishes to improve our internationalization work and reinforce our French profile with the help of the Erasmus+ program. We want to work on needs mentioned in our systematic quality work, like for example increased motivation, better goal fulfillment, inclusion, reduced stress, better understanding of democratic values and a sustainable society, all of which are universal needs that are worked on in all schools regardless of country. We constantly try to make these needs concrete in our daily work. When we applied for this project we had a current schoolpartner project with a French school group. Due to the pandemic we had not yet been able to perform any mobilities but the virtual exchange and work on the project had increased the interest in international work among pupils and staff. Since we already had our current pupils project we chose to only involve the staff.
