We wanted to give the vocational students personal development in the form of increased knowledge of working life in other countries, developed understanding of differences in culture and traditions, and increased self-confidence. We vocational teachers needed to find new ways of looking at the assessment of practical elements of the profession and ways of communicating the assessment to the students. Experiences that allow students to receive a better education. We also wanted to get contacts with colleagues in Europe for new collaborations in the future.
TBS Gävle is a business high school with a focus on entrepreneurship that through this project wanted to increase the international work also for our vocational program. At the school, we have formed an Erasmus group that will drive the work to get more people to participate in projects. TBS Gävle is a school that will also work to increase students' opportunities in working life. Being able to send students on internships abroad has been a goal for us. We wanted the students in the VET Programme to have a higher status at the school and also increased self-confidence and knowledge of how working life works in Europe. We also wanted them to practice taking responsibility and practicing the English language. For us teachers, it has been a desire to learn more about how teachers work with assessment of practical elements outside Sweden. Through different networks, we have a pretty good overview of how to do different things in Swedish upper secondary schools. By going to job shadowing, we would have the opportunity to see and be able to ask questions about internship and assessment in another European country.
