Manifested in the current vision plan (Vision 2030), the Swedish Defence University manifests the highly ambitious goal to be a world-leading university in the fields of defence, crisis management and security. As stated in this plan, the increased internationalization is an important tool in the university’s efforts to achieve the highest quality and educational relevance. This involves enrolling more international students, increased opportunities for teacher and student exchanges, and the recruitment of international teaching staff. In this context, participation in the Erasmus+ programme is a necessary and crucial part to reach these goals. In June 2023, a special acceleration track for internationalization was initiated by the vice-chancellor to operationalize and concretize the goals of the Vision 2030. Some of its core elements are to strengthen the administrative infrastructure, and also deliver more courses in English for incoming students both as free-movers and as exchange students. Another important goal is to encourage teachers and staff to be more internationally active and also strengthen the status of the English language at the university in order to be inclusive for international staff and students.
