To concretely empower adults & adult educators in their everyday life, RE-PEER wanted to: 1) Develop a theoretical and practical framework of digital environmental learning/teaching for adult centres, defining the main pedagogical competencies for adult educators and the main circular economy competencies applied at tech waste correct management based on REUSE, REDUCE, RECYCLE. 2) Unify adult educators methodologies and training guidelines/materials for effective digital/environmental adult education and set up the main strategy lines to transform adult education centres as “repair cafés”. 3) Make simple and at-hand training material for adult learners in reusing, reducing, recycling techwaste and to raise awareness of the WEEE problem orienteering them in everyday scenarios involving technology. 4) Introduce a gamified pedagogical web app focused on everyday scenarios to trigger the interest of adults and make them acquainted with the concepts of circular economy competencies by testing and learning on everyday scenarios.
RE-PEER project focused on – equipping with new and needed environmental digital competences for adults in terms of digital competencies to improve their self-efficacy and actively fight climate change by embedding fundamental transversal skills & competencies. To resume, why we wanted to this project: 1) To contributing to the wider fight against climate change by raising awareness on how techwaste is produced and how it impacts on everyday life, on resource consumption, and how we can act on everyday basis to limit its impact by reinforcing strategic digital & environmental skills 2) To support adult education centres by new competencies & by creating a shared strategy of “repair cafés” to implement circular economy actions within adult education centres and make them forward-look toward a different way of doing education, not just “limited” within the walls of a centre, but beyond it, as a service centre for the local communities 3) Strengthen the competencies & capabilities of adult educators by reflecting through the lenses of sustainability on DigComp2.1, reflecting on the role of adult educators and on sustainability capacities related to tech device usage.
