Objectives

The project called "Wear The Change" was created in response to the desire of young people to address the issues of fast fashion and overconsumption of clothing. The project aimed to educate participants on sustainable fashion and environmental protection, as well as provide them with practical skills in clothing alterations such as remaking, redesigning, repairing, and upcycling. The ultimate goal was to inspire participants to make ethical choices and become responsible consumers, and to encourage them to act as ambassadors for sustainable living by developing future initiatives on a national and international level. The project was initiated and largely developed by participants from countries who had previously participated in Erasmus+ projects and had experience in environmental activism. Partners joined the project for various reasons related to the topic of sustainable fashion. The "Wear The Change" project had several specific objectives, and a program was developed to achieve them. These objectives included: - creating a safe and empowering learning space for participants to exchange competences and practices, - to promote sustainable fashion by creating a forum for discussing the differences between fast and slow fashion. It was implemented in Struga, a city with a significant textile industry and high consumption of fast fashion. Participants had the chance to acquire skills from one another, interact with the local community, and take part in activities such as group discussions, interactive presentations, research projects and brainstorming sessions. - examining the impact and pollution caused by fast fashion on the environment and discussing ways to address these issues, - to educate and inform individuals on the importance of sustainable consumption habits by raising awareness through interactive activities. The goal was to make participants more aware of the environmental effects of their consumption choices and to provide them with the tools and strategies to adopt more sustainable practices. - exchanging ideas on how to develop a sustainable wardrobe and shift towards more ethical shopping habits. - to educate participants on environmentally-friendly alternatives such as second-hand clothing and upcycling by holding workshops that covered the life cycle of clothes, including the resources used, the workforce, and the negative environmental impact. The workshops also discussed the different forms of sustainable fashion, using visual aids, simulations, research, and group discussions. These activities were intended to give participants a better understanding of the environmental impact of clothing production and consumption and to introduce them to more sustainable options. - to teach participants practical skills on how to upcycle clothes, including how to repair and redesign them through sewing and embroidery. This was accomplished through hands-on activities, such as sewing, embroidering, and knitting, using old fabrics as practice materials. Participants also had the chance to fix their own clothes and participate in a clothes exchange event. - to share best practices from other countries on youth involvement in addressing fast fashion, which was done through workshops where participants shared their own successful practices and encouraged others to adopt similar approaches. - Empowering young people and boosting their active participation through various events and campaigns, which was achieved through activities that allowed participants to be creative and develop awareness campaigns and workshops that could be shared online or offline and inspire others to learn about the topic. - Promoting the idea of thinking globally and acting locally, which was achieved through activities that encouraged participants to consider the global impact of their actions and to take steps towards more sustainable practices at the local level. - to foster diversity, multicultural inclusion, creativity, and teamwork through activities that encouraged interaction and collaboration among participants, such as workshops, an intercultural night, and events that took place in the community. - to educate participants about the Erasmus+ program and its opportunities by holding two dedicated sessions on the topic and through preparation meetings that provided information before the start of the activity. - Creating a blog and guideline to document the project and ensure its sustainability, which was done by creating a blog during the project that contained all the information about the project. - Supporting partnership-building and project development on a local and international level, which was achieved through the creation of strong bonds with partners and the continuation of cooperation after the project. - Supporting partners and participants in disseminating the results and transferring their competences to peers.
