Objectives

BurnOut Lab was an Erasmus+ Youth Exchange Project that brought together 60 participants (young people aged 18-30 and group leaders) from 6 countries (Sweden, Hungary, Poland, Italy, Greece, Turkey) in Floda, Sweden in September 2022. The project AIM was a response to our and our NGOs' needs. The subject of the project greatly affected the members of the leadership organization and our partners. The fundamental issue was the fact that the EU was not talking about the burnout of youths in NGOs. There was no dialogue about it, and we were taken for granted. The objectives were to raise awareness about burnout among youths in NGOs, importance of our work, mission and values, calling it a job & changing public opinion, exchange our experience and research new tools for personal tackling skills, bring the skills for NGO management that did not lead to burnout (valuable NGO culture), learn competences for building NGO discipline that offers development opportunities and not workaholism, empower ourselves and peers who devote their time to others (not forgetting about their private lives) & personal skills to set the limits of work-life balance in the NGO world, change the perspective, consisting of calling it a work of fundamental social significance and indicating and naming its emotional, psychological, or social costs, create a network of partners to follow up this topic, and promote other E+ initiatives tackling the issue.
