Background

The DLAN Association has been operating for 17 years and is an independent, professional disability organization with representative status for people with deafblindness. It is the only Slovenian organization in the field of deafblindness that operates internationally and is recognized by international organizations. We decided for Erasmus+ project because in practice we are faced with the need to acquire and upgrade the knowledge and competences necessary for high-quality and professional work with people with deafblindness, with a desire for progress, professional and personal development, both of our employees, active support members as well as users of the association – deafblind persons. In Slovenia, there is no training for the acquisition of special competences and knowledge, which are necessary for successful and effective communication with deafblind persons and for adapted implementation of training and informal education of deafblind persons. With the help of this project and the connection with experts from abroad who have many years of experience in the field of deafblindness, we as an organization gained invaluable new knowledge, which we implemented in our daily work and further in the development of the profession.
