Objectives

With the project, we wanted to achieve that all project participants (directly professionals, workers, indirectly children, kindergartens and the general public) are aware of the importance of environmental issues, i.e. teach children how to be better connected with nature and how to protect it. At the forefront were the topics of bee protection (why they are important for our lives and what they bring us), water protection (how to protect our Sava river, how to reduce the consumption of drinking water) and waste separation (how to create as little as possible of waste, how to properly separate the waste we create and how to reuse the waste (if possible). We connected all three topics with ICT technology, which we used to learn about nature (the BeeBot robot), to present our findings (e-books, use of a digital camera, storyjumper) and to present the project itself more widely. In the connection of the two fields - nature and ICT - we have empowered both employees and children to think about their green future. With this, we have made them more active citizens who contribute to a greener planet with their ideas, thoughts and actions; at the same time, we gave them a good starting point for further learning .

Background

The circumstances of our project are related to 3 specific challenges: The first challenge is the fight against climate change. Through an internal analysis of the situation, we found that we have gaps mainly in the field of ecological behavior. We also found that environmental protection education in our wider surroundings was not emphasized enough. That's why we decided to actively involve actors from the wider environment through appearance, positive encouragement and actions. Another challenge is the use of ICT technology for VIZ purposes. In addition, we noticed a shortage of digital competences among our professionals. That is why we also focused on acquiring competences. The third challenge is strengthening employees and children for the challenges of the future. By empowering educators in key competencies - ecological awareness, cooperation to protect the environment, use of ICT for educational purposes, multiculturalism, integration, cooperation, active citizenship - we wanted to indirectly transfer knowledge to children and enable them to have better initial conditions for primary school education and better functioning in today's socio-social scheme All 3 important challenges are also challenges of our organization.
