Objectives

1. Professional career development of teachers: developing competencies, exploring innovative and creative teaching methods. Our goal was to contribute to improved outcomes, increased motivation, and engagement in learning for all children, while injecting new energy and incentives into the collective for further education in this field. 2. Reduce gaps in knowledge and the use of the Italian language, and discover the importance of belonging to a common European identity through student mobility. 3. Professional development of educational staff on mindfulness to introduce mindfulness techniques into the school routine, among teachers and students, promoting holistic individual development. With this project, our aim was to ensure both academic success, knowledge, and better inclusion of students, as well as emotional and personal development of students, improving the school climate, professional development of teachers, and encouraging both teachers and students to engage in international collaborations.

Background

Our school provides primary education in the Italian language, specifically for children of the Italian community. However, the current reality of our school is becoming increasingly multicultural, with children from other countries enrolling with us. We also have students from socially and economically disadvantaged backgrounds, as well as 20 children with special needs, presenting various disorders and learning difficulties. We have noticed a growing incidence of behavioral and emotional disorders, anxiety, and attention-related issues. We have begun facing challenges in how to assist students who struggle to follow the lessons due to language barriers and find it difficult to integrate with their peers. We need to design and adapt teaching methods and approaches to reach all students, including those who are academically and linguistically weaker. Additionally, we aim to enhance our teachers' expertise with new knowledge, innovative and diverse teaching approaches, ensuring both academic success and personal growth of each student, fostering a positive school climate. We also strive to highlight the benefits of cultural and linguistic diversity among students while maintaining the quality of the Italian language.
