Objectives

This project was intended to satisfy the essential needs of our school which are constant improvement and quality increase of education. In order to meet these needs, different methods are used: adapting the open curriculum to the current demands of the local environment and economy, use of good practices learned from local and neighbouring regions as well as from wider European area, which is facilitated by participating in international projects, such as Erasmus+. The latter enables the establishment of contacts with companies and organisations abroad, expansion of partnership networks, learning about good practices, gaining new experiences and knowledge, and thus improving the quality of learning, teaching and curricula as well as introducing new teaching methods. Connecting theory and practice, expanding collaboration with partners abroad, constant internationalisation, systematic development of professional know-how are the fields at which we wish to make progress in the long run. This is the reason why we have carried out numerous mobilities in the past few years and have come to the conclusion that they have become an indispensable source of improvements, novelties, updated teaching contents.

Background

Upper secondary economic and business school Koper is one of the largest schools on the coast, and offers various educational programmes: for administrators and shop assistants in vocational education, for economic technicians and economic technicians VTE in technical education, economic grammar school and vocational course. In our everyday work we strive to use modern teaching methods and we try to constantly renew and update our curricula, also with the help on the experience gained in the international environment. Education about tourism has become one of our priorities since we live in a popular tourist area. Our school is located in a nationally mixed area, therefore our students learn Italian as their second foreign language. Our students are 15 to 19 years old. They come for different parts of the coastal region and are of different nationalities (besides Slovenian, also Croatioan, Bosnian, Macedonian, Kosovo, etc. and also Italian). Our school is also attended by students with special needs, students from socially deprivileged families, students immigrants from ex Yugoslav republics and other countries, therefore there are many students with inferior opportunities.
