Objectives

We wanted to achieve the following goals: 1. Students and teachers develop the competence of interculturalism and get to know at least 2 new methods of work involving children from different cultural backgrounds, which they later test in their own practical work (the PUD – practical training lessons) in class. 2. At least 50 % of participants improve their foreign language skills and at least 30% of participants learn basic vocabulary in a new foreign language. 3. In the field of internationalization, we will establish 2 new quality partnerships and carry out 29 mobilities in the field of VET by the end of 2023. At least once we will host foreign professionals.

Background

Our organization provides secondary general and secondary professional and technical education for students aged 15 – 18 years. The school is in the rural Pomurje region in northeast of Slovenia. The main goal of participating in this project was to engage students from a geographically distant area and low-income families, who have fewer opportunities for inclusion, to gain work experience, acquire additional professional knowledge and develop basic competences in foreign countries. Doing so would enable them to become more self-confident, more proactive and career oriented. Teachers involved, who accompanied students abroad, also benefited a lot from the project, and they also spent a few days job shadowing. The teachers have successfully integrated and transmitted the acquired knowledge and experience into their work, which is reflected in improvement of teaching methods and skills. The organization itself gained a lot from the project, which is becoming recognizable internationally. It is interesting because it brings collaboration skills, knowledge transmission and introduces innovative practices in several segments (communication, teaching, administration, business, management) of its operation.
