Objectives

We wanted to achieve that students would gain work experience abroad, improve their skills and knowledge in the field of eye optics and glassmaking, learn about latest technology and improve expertise in manufacturing optical devices and glass products. The expected goals were: to meet manufacturing processes and materials of various types in the field of eye optics and glassmaking and to enable students to test themselves in the production of optical devices and glass products. Other important goals were: to transfer new knowledge to their environment, improve their ability to communicate in a foreign language through practice and become aware of the importance of the European citizenship. The interest in glass making professions is declining among young in the world, so we wanted to bring students closer to the importance of work in the field of glass and to show them what kind of value it has not only in Slovenia but also elsewhere in the world. With the project we also wanted to achieve long-term goals, namely greater motivation of students for vocational training and further work, quality knowledge as a basis for further study, greater opportunities for communication, intercultural awareness and greater employability.

Background

We signed up for the project because we want to provide the students of the Rogaška Slatina School Center the highest possible quality education and gaining experience in fields of eye optics and glass making, including mobility abroad. We educate students for the professions of optical technician, glass technician and apprentice glass maker, which are the only programs of this kind in Slovenia, which is why it is all the more important to train good, promising and quality personnel. Future optician technicians, glass technicians and glaziers must know the latest procedures in practice and technology, which only enables them to receive quality practical training at recognized employers abroad. The strategic orientation of ŠCRS is constant internationalization, systematic development of the profession including good practices from abroad, the expansion of cooperation with partners abroad and the integration of theory and practice. With the help of the mobility project students also improve other skills, such as the integration of practical and social skills, getting to know and supporting common European orientations in the field of work and education, awareness of one's own national identity and connecting with other nations.
