Objectives

The project aimed to support adult educators in their transition from traditional to blended learning, to improve their skills and knowledge in planning, delivering and evaluating blended learning. In doing so, we wanted to increase the number of teachers who are delivering quality blended learning in their local/regional context and who are able to transfer their knowledge and skills to their colleagues. Furthermore, we wanted to empower the participating organisations in the field of blended learning, to increase the presence of the methodology in their programmes and to offer the end-users, i.e. adult learners, a more flexible learning process that is more responsive to their needs and makes effective use of online and digital opportunities. Through dissemination activities and with the commitment to create lasting project results, we aimed to use the project results after its completion, to integrate them into the work of the partner organisations, to make them visible among key stakeholders and to exploit their potential for further use.

Background

The COVID-19 experience has shown that adult educators and adult learning organisations face a number of challenges in making the transition to blended learning, in particular the lack of knowledge and skills about the TRANSITION from traditional to blended learning. This transition is no longer a choice for them, but a necessity, as it is the only way for educators and organisations to respond to digital trends in education on the one hand, and the diverse needs of different target groups of learners on the other. There is not enough training on the pedagogical and pedagogical aspects of blended learning, there is much more training focusing on the use of digital tools in education, but the process of blended learning itself is in the background. An evaluation study published in 2020 by the Slovenian Andragoški centrs Slovenije only confirms the above, but the situation is similar in Greece, where research has shown that most teachers have only basic skills (e.g. screen sharing, sending web links), while in Spain and Cyprus adult education in this area is also under-resourced.
