Through the 'Countryside for us' project, we wanted to enable young people to have a youth exchange, where they will gain a range of experiences and ideas on how, through their active participation, they can transform the natural and cultural features of the rural environment into sustainable development and thereby raise the diversity of the offer and the visibility of the countryside to a higher level. level. The red thread of the project was digital work, which the local youth did not know to a sufficient extent. For illustration, this can be across sectoral integration (eg online tourist visit to the countryside; outdoor tourist classrooms, etc.). Through the project, we definitely wanted to compare the local challenges of rural areas between countries and the ways of raising the visibility of the countryside and its youth. The instrument that connects the mentioned problem and the final product (directing the future of young people's lives to rural areas) represents precisely the natural and cultural potential of their environment, which can be intertwined with professional knowledge and digital skills that young people need very much. In Slovenia, we are witnessing that, due to mass abandonment, the countryside has experienced deterioration over time, especially in terms of demographics. There are no big cities in Carinthia, so young people thinking about their future in the countryside are deprived of the variety of offers compared to young people from urban centers. During the emergency situation due to the Covid-19 crisis, the rural youth felt even more hindered and, as a result, the decline of innovative ideas that would connect them to develop topics that would represent the competitiveness of the countryside's offer compared to urban centers. Through the project, we wanted to point out that the current epidemiological obstacles are actually an excellent casual starting point for innovative networking of young people. Life in more or less remote areas outside the city has overnight turned into a privilege that young people are insufficiently aware of. By investing in the knowledge of individuals, we have contributed to long-term benefits for the individuals themselves, and this also brings progress for their organizations, the development of youth work, and an incentive to make their ideas easier to recognize and, of course, supported by the leaders in their environment in the realization of e.g. entrepreneurial ideas. The goals of our project were thus: - development of digital competences of rural youth - development of innovative rural offers - intersectoral networking in rural areas and between different countries - intergenerational bonding
