Digital skills and competencesInclusion, promoting equality and non-discriminationNew learning and teaching methods and approaches

Objectives

The aim of the project was to increase teachers' professional competences in three areas: 1. Inclusion in teaching 2. Digital technologies 3. 2. One of the goals was to increase the professional competence of teachers in inclusive education, because there are more and more pupils with special educational needs in our school and teachers were not sufficiently trained to work with them. During distance education, we realized the need to increase the expertise of teachers in digital technologies, which are essential for managing face-to-face and distance education. Digital technology has become an integral part of our daily lives and therefore it is necessary to "keep up" with the latest technology. We have also perceived the need for training in innovative methods that contribute to a higher quality of the teaching process and thus to a higher level of knowledge of the students. In order to give and educate others at a high level, the teacher himself needs somewhere to pick up and receive.

Background

The decisive activity of the Lutheran United School is a quality educational activity. In an effort to reflect the needs of today's pupils and to innovate our working methods to achieve the best possible results, our project aimed to train teachers in areas that have become a challenge for us in recent years. The first area was the increasing number of pupils with special educational needs. We also applied the new working methods learned on the courses to pupils from a marginalised group coming from the UK and later from war-torn Ukraine. We learned to accept the uniqueness of these pupils, to know different methods and compensatory aids when working with them and to integrate these pupils into the social environment of the mainstream classroom. During the Covid19 pandemic, teachers were faced with increased demands on their digital technology skills, but they were not adequately prepared for this. By attending the courses, we have significantly increased our digital competencies and prepared ourselves for modern 21st century education. We have familiarised ourselves with digital tools that enrich the teaching process. Strategies for developing teachers' and pupils' soft skills were also an added value of the courses we attended.
