We applied for Erasmus+ program to fulfill our two main needs. The fist one was to improve the language skills, educational methods and digital methods for teaching English of our Slovak teachers who teach English and German. The second goal was to improve the language skills and knowledge about CLIL method and program of Slovak teachers at middle school who cooperate with native English teachers at CLIL program and subjects. Apart from these main goals we wanted to benefit from networking, creating new relationships with colleagues from different EU countries and head masters of different schools and we wanted to bring to our school this sense that Slovakia forms a strong part of EU.
Our organization ZŠ s MŠ Dubová 1, Bratislava Slovakia, is the state primary and middle school and it includes the kindergarten, too. Although our school is the state one, our children start learning English from the kindergarten (Jolly Phonics method) and from the 1st grade of the primary school. We have already implemented CLIL program at primary school part and we started implementing CLIL method and program also at middle school last year. We mainly focus on English but our pupils start learning German at middle school, too. CLIL program is in English and it is taught by native teachers in cooperation with Slovak ones and it is implemented to different subjects like history, art, music, biology, math that the pupils have the opportunity to extend their English vocabulary and knowledge specifically for those subjects.
