We wanted the students to expand their horizons of perception, through self-motivation in application of knowledge and skills, confronted in an international environment. The students should level up their interest in the state of your digital awareness and develop the soft skills necessary for their application in future professions with the help of international peer cooperation. We aimed the activities to develop interest in their opinion and attitude to social issues, usage of digital skills to prepare for life, active EU citizenship and abilities to work with digital contents and their risks. These skills and attitudes were formed through the development of critical thinking, Thanks to the interaction with students from other countries to gain new experiences, self-esteem and pride in their own identity and by mutual sharing of ideas to accept the differences of other cultures. This is how we wanted them to check their language skills, communication skills and give them a practical level of use. Communication in the target language was supposed to improve the quality and improve their language portfolio. An important part was to check other possibilities and to gain theorganizational and leadership experience.

Background

The school of J. A. Komensky is a fully organized school, consisting of primary and secondary education. Pupils of ages from 6 to 15 attend the school. Within the region, it is one of the largest and most successful schools, however it is also affected by the risk of an outflow of students and the influence of competitiveness of other elementary schools in an effort to offer an attractive school education program at a time of a declining demographic curve. The qualitative difference of our school is in the offer of topics in media literacy and environmental awareness as separate school subjects. We offer extended teaching of English through the application of elements of the CLIL method. We offer a sports class as an alternative. We support preparation for subject competitions in which the school has got successes. The school has an inclusive team consisting of a special pedagogue, assistants and a psychologist. The vision of the school is to connect traditional and modern teaching, to be open to international cooperation and to prepare students for future professions. As students live in various culture areas, they have a predisposition to perceive and understand the culture differences and uniting factors.
