Objectives

Opening up to Europe. Completing a part of the study abroad motivated the students to achieve better academic results, helped them overcome stereotypes, got to know other cultures and their customs and traditions, and nature and, last but not least, made new friends. They improved their professional competencies. Improving professional skills enabled students to apply themselves better in the labour market and contributed to the development of independence and responsibility. Thus, The school offered a graduate with a foreign internship to the labour market, and he is much better able to make decisions in the production process directly at the employer or as a self-employed person. The foreign internship allowed the students to compare solutions for the health status of forests in our country and Europe. They were improving their language skills. Pupils improved their foreign language communication in specific professional and life situations and expanded their vocabulary to include new technical terminology. Staying abroad opened up new opportunities for further education in a foreign language. The participants exchanged experiences in best practices in forestry and gained valuable information about new practices.

Background

The school continues the famous traditions of the beginnings of forestry education in Banská Štiavnica and Europe, dating back to 1770. Secondary education at the school began in 1919, and the first graduates left the school gates in 1923. The school educates students and provides them with education according to the valid School educational programs in these fields of study: Fields of study: - Forestry 4219 M specialization: Forestry operation 4219 M 01 - approved from 1.9.2008, last update on September 1, 2016, Landscape ecology 4219 M 02 - approved from 1.9.2008, last update from September 1, 2016, Over 5,275 graduates have left the school gates to date. In today's era of climate change and adaptation to it, it is much more important than ever before to connect the forest, the economy, nature conservation, the public and other institutions due to the interplay of global warming. We consider it key to connecting with each other and exchanging information, and subsequently introducing measures for adapting the climate to its change. Only by joint efforts, both on the international and national platforms, can we ensure carbon neutrality and thus slow climate change.
