The Past and Present of Slovakia and Romania project was aimed at 40 young people in the same number of 20 youth from Slovakia and Romania. The exchange participants came from different social backgrounds. In exchange, we tried to move and direct the participants in questions related to the cultural differences of the two nations in the present, but also in the past. We investigated the possibilities of migration for work, respecting other nationalities living, working and operating in the community. We supported the tolerance of nations and through informal education we reduced various forms of discrimination and expressions of hatred between nationalities. Although these young people came from various socially and economically weaker backgrounds, they are nevertheless very hardworking and were interested in learning about the possibilities and finding opportunities for employment, as well as education. 20 young people and 3 leaders participated in the youth exchange from Romanian Odyssey. 20 young people, 3 leaders and volunteers also participated from Slovakia. The goal was to strengthen the computer skills of young participants in creating a video about nationalities, their differences, interesting facts and facts about both countries (Slovakia, Romania). The specificity of the group was that they had a very strongly developed emotional perception of the environment and community, as they are active in their environment in the countries in which they live. In addition, the Romanian group of young people, despite having never been to Slovakia, observes many Slovak customs and traditions. They take part in various volunteer activities, the results and experiences of which they shared and exchanged with each other during the implementation of the project. As part of the project, various workshops were held, which were focused on various topics. During the implementation of the youth exchange, we covered the history of the countries, the present and the development of the countries, the effects of politics and the economy on the countries, employment or unemployment in the countries, mobility for work, education and getting to know other cultures, experiences from volunteer activities and activities, practical activities chosen directly on the exchange , but also theoretical knowledge and information, examples of practice and situations, role-playing games or habits of developing various social and communication skills that they were able to master. We pointed to positive examples of successful people, associations of Slovaks in Romania and Romanians in Slovakia. We met people who had the courage to travel beyond the borders of their country, migrated for work, as they had difficulty finding employment in their home environment. Based on these facts, attitudes, opinions and experiences were exchanged.
