Objectives

The concept of subjective mapping describes representation of the spatial features in a way that is dependent on the observer’s location, time, connection or understanding of the space. Subjective maps are also and foremost archives of community - their private, intimate and daily memories. They collect earlier unknown history-story which are often underestimated, unwritten and go away with the people but indisputably have invaluable importance. We wanted to explore this advantage of subjectivity of maps as a tool for mutual understanding between majority and marginalized LGBT+ minority, inclusion and empowerment of queer youth. With this project, we addressed the need of youth workers to learn efficient, accessible, and innovative methodologies that helped to build transferable skills. We also intended to provide them space and a framework for personal growth and artistic expression as means to prevent burnout and enhance their motivation to work for the benefit of their target groups. In our ongoing activities, we discovered several needs in the daily work of European youth workers and decided to design this project to address them. With this activity, we wanted to create a safe environment with experiential dynamics for youth workers where they would gain resources and tools for applying subjective mapping with their target group. Also, by sharing and debating experiences, good practices, and results, we aimed to offer opportunities for developing their facilitating skills and to motivate them to create more diverse programs in their youth work. The training course was also the best place to work on and strengthen the alliances and networks that could blossom with future projects. With partners outlined the following objectives: -supporting professional development of the youth workers based in partner countries by providing tailor-made solution- based tools for youth work activities -practicing new ways of approaching and supporting young people that are now, more than ever, in difficulty of finding a safe space where their experiences are welcomed and shared -helping the home-based communities revisit their own history in order to provide community cohesion, a sense of belonging and a sense of identity and develop community self-esteem and pride. -discover alternative ways of working with topic of diversity and inclusion in EU countries -generating new ideas for challenges relating to the Europe-wide youth trends and exchanges experiences, expertises and best practices from the field of inclusive youth work -enhancing the working experience of youth workers with fewer opportunities by providing non-commercial professional development activities -opening doors for organizations by bringing back new ideas, new activities and contacts that may contribute to a more creative, playful and harmonious working atmosphere and team, which is one of the ways to support innovation within organisations -creating a network of organisations working in the youth education and training field aimed at social inclusion and non- discrimination of marginalized people across Europe
