Objectives

Under the management of the Norwegian partner, to increase the competences of PsM from the Slovak Republic and the Czech Republic, who provide specialized services to children and youth through education and animal-assisted therapies, in various areas - health, social and educational, in SR and CR. To raise the awareness of the general public, especially among the parents of children up to 14 years of age and the professional public (from the pedagogical, social and health fields) about the possibilities and opportunities of working with children and youth, using animal therapies. These are children and young people with medical disabilities. Develop guidelines for the training of lecturers who will train other PsM using assistance with animals in their work with children and youth. To offer them the systematization of knowledge in this area, which is the basis for professionally founded and knowledge-based, effective and safe use of these approaches in practice.

Background

We needed to address the quality of AAI (animal-assisted/supported interventions), which are an innovation of the well-known canistherapies and hippotherapies. We wanted quality animal-assisted interventions in the environment of children and young people to occur on an increasingly large scale in Slovakia and throughout Europe. So that PsM, especially in the SR and the CR, adopt the approach of redesigning canistherapies and hippotherapies, which in the 20s they perform without any "formal" authorization and without clearly defining the relationship (and thus without any personal or legislative protection), only on the basis of trust. We perceive such a situation as high risk (resulting from the presence of the animal and the insufficient educational level of the providers of these services). Therefore, we decided to apply for the project in order to increase the competences of PsM based on cooperation with partners and the implementation of innovative procedures in working with youth in view of the possibilities of PsM who want to include animals in their programs to make their own work with children and youth more efficient. the use of the Animal Assisted Intervention (AAI) concept and Green Care.
