Objectives

With this project, we primarily aimed to increase the educational capacity of our staff and our institution by ensuring that our adult educators receive training in the field of Andragogy, for their personal and professional development, and at the same time to guide our adult learners with effective and innovative approaches. We wanted to help them express themselves better, make their lives easier, learn to learn, follow developments closely, and adapt to the digitalizing century we live in with intercultural and interpersonal information and communication. As educators and an institution with an androgogic approach, we wanted to increase the quality of adult education in our institution by developing innovative education programs, to raise awareness of Erasmus+ projects, to provide higher quality learning opportunities for adults, and to support increasing the participation rates in lifelong learning, which our country and the European Union aim in this direction.

Background

As the only adult education institution in our district, our aim is to increase the participation rates of adults in Lifelong Learning and therefore, first of all our educators receive Androgogy (Adult Education) training. Since there are no special programs that train educators for non-formal education institutions in Turkey, we decided that this education should be in the EU dimension. At the evaluation meeting, we came to the following conclusions showing our weaknesses; The participation rates in the courses have decreased, the trainers in the public education centers are constantly changing, androgogy training is not taken in university education, the experts in their fields do not renew themselves, the educators do not participate in any in-service training in the field of adult education. Based on these results, we aimed to increase participation and certification rates. We also believe that participation rates in lifelong learning will increase with educators who are more conscious, have received adult education, use innovative methods, and improve themselves in EU standards. We will achieve this goal by participating in an intensive programme 10-day 'Train the Trainers; Adult Education' program with our adult educators.
