Objectives

METU is a state university with more than 27.000 students on three different campuses including 2.000 international degree-seeking and about 300 incoming exchange students from over 95 different countries worldwide. METU has a strong research and internationalization strategy* which includes specific targets to increase qualified international students and staff. Moreover, the University gives priority to providing opportunities for its students and staff to gain international academic experience abroad. METU’s Strategic Plan (SP) (2018-2022)*, that was in operation during this project's term, was approved in September 2017 by the University Senate & International Cooperation was introduced as one of the 8 main strategic fields in the SP which signifies the fundamental place it has in METU’s mission & vision. In its SP, METU prioritizes increasing the number of its own students that take part in mobility programs to 750 each year & to raise the number of international degree students & staff to at least 10% of its population by 2022 and the following years. The Erasmus+ Program is one of the most important projects to realize the above-mentioned objectives and has been carried out in the University since 2004.
