Starting Point of Our Project Many people think of occupational therapy as a new health field. However, its history is quite old. There is information that therapeutic baths, massage, exercise and music were used in the treatment of mental illnesses in 100 BC. Towards modern times (1700s), occupational therapy started as a movement in the USA and then spread to Europe and was taken as a basis for the treatment of mental problems as a daily life activity. After World War II, a large number of occupational therapists were needed because of the soldiers. After this point, occupational therapists started to work not only to improve mental but also physical problems. In Turkey, the occupational therapy association was established in 2005 and the first occupational therapy graduate was graduated from Hacettepe University in 2014. Although there is a need for thousands of occupational therapists in our country, there is only one state university with an occupational therapy department. In response to this need for occupational therapists, there are occupational therapists in a total of 13 state hospitals. In the USA, occupational therapy ranks 17th among the best health professions and 23rd in the ranking of the best professions among all professions. With a development rate of 27%, it shows improvement above the average. Occupational therapy, which is among the least stressful professions, is shown in the first place among the professions of the future. Today, while there are occupational therapists working in many fields in the world, unfortunately, this number is very limited in our country. Occupational therapy is a newly developing occupational group in our country. It is a well-established profession in European standards and supports the education pillar of individuals holistically.
