During the preparation of the application for the project, and during the implementation, our main priority was promoting a better understanding of the concept of disability and raising awareness among young people regarding the difficulties that people with disabilities face during their daily life, their socio-economic life, their rights and approaches towards disability on the field. In addition, as is common in many contexts, when the concept of disability is raised up, pity, rather than understanding is quite spread, and our aim was to introduce youth with the concept of disability, independent life and medical-social view on disability in our society. As mentioned in the application form, both in Turkey and in different European countries, disability and sports are usually perceived as different and unrelated terms, and our aim was to motivate young people to be pioneers in their local society to bring an understanding towards theses two terms and motivate people with disabilities in their locales to take part in the sports activities, getting rid of the barriers that are there, not physicals but socially. Further, in our activities with the local people in Yalova, we aimed at raising awareness among the local community towards concept of disability and inclusion. Finally, we also aimed at creating a link and a connection between the locals and the youth coming from different countries on the basis of disabilities and inclusion, and create space for cultural interaction for both locals and international youth, and organized activities accordingly.
