We all pose a serious danger to the environment. The development of modern life, rapidly changing living conditions and our daily life are under the influence of environmental factors. Let go of the big industrial wastes; Even daily wastes of people cause great harm to the environment. When it comes to environmental protection, the first thing that comes to mind is always; nylon bags, garbage sorting, recycling. To date, many studies have been carried out for the sorting and recycling of garbage. Although not completely, many people are now conscious about recycling. Likewise, dozens of activities took place on the harms of the use of plastic bags. All of the work carried out not only contributed positively to the environment, but also created awareness in the society. There is another danger that is at least as harmful as the others and is in our lives. Waste oils… Although there are studies on this subject, it is a more neglected danger. 90 people out of every 100 people pour waste oil into the sink. Waste oil spilled into the sink mixes with sewers, lakes and seas. When it is dumped, it first mixes with the soil and then with the groundwater. 1 liter of waste oil pollutes approximately 1 million liters of drinking water. Studies show that 25% of water pollution is caused by waste oils. Waste oils are both domestic and industrial waste that are always present in our lives. And yet, we decided to shape our project on the subject of waste oils. In our project, we planned activities specifically targeting young people and housewives. Our project was carried out in Şahinbey district, which is the most populated district of Gaziantep. Şahinbey region is a newly urbanized region that contains mostly shanty houses. We realized our project here because of the insufficient awareness of recycling in this region. Our project also matched with the priorities of the program in terms of its subject and activities. One of the special objectives of the Erasmus + program; It is directly linked to the goal of promoting active citizenship of young people, intercultural dialogue, social inclusion and solidarity”. The sense of solidarity was instilled in the participants with the teamwork activities carried out. With the environmental activities implemented, the participants have become people who think about environmental problems and seek solutions. Being a part of the solutions encouraged the participants to be active citizens. In addition, young people from different cultures took part in our project together. We have developed the intercultural dialogue with the intercultural atmosphere created. Participants; We observed that he moved away from negative emotions such as prejudice and racism. Multilingualism was also emphasized in our project. We did not seek language requirements in our project participants, but all our activities were carried out in English, which is the common language. The sharing of the participants, the time they spent together, all formal and informal activities carried out in the project were carried out in English. This encouraged the participants to learn the language.
