Objectives

Our objectives in implementing the project were multi-faceted, aiming to address various challenges and contribute to positive outcomes for migrants, refugees, and the broader community. Specifically, we sought to achieve the following: - to promote social inclusion by equipping professionals, especially youth workers, with the knowledge, skills, and tools necessary to support migrants and refugees effectively. - to enhance the capacity and competencies of staff/youth workers and other professionals working with migrants and refugees. - to foster collaboration and networking among organizations, institutions, and stakeholders involved in migration and youth work. - to raise awareness and advocate for greater support and inclusion of migrants and refugees within society. Overall, our objective was to contribute to creating more welcoming, inclusive, and equitable communities for migrants, refugees, and all individuals, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to thrive and participate fully in society.

Background

We applied for this project to address the critical challenges encountered by migrants and refugees, particularly regarding social inclusion. Recognizing the urgency of the situation, we sought to play a proactive role in supporting these vulnerable populations and facilitating their integration into society. The needs we aimed to address were: Training Needs: There was a notable lack of comprehensive training resources available to professionals, especially youth workers, who are directly involved in assisting young migrants and refugees. Capacity Building: We identified a need to enhance the capacity and competencies of youth workers and other professionals to address the specific challenges faced by migrants and refugees. This involved deepening their understanding of migration issues, fostering cultural sensitivity, improving intercultural communication, and implementing strategies for promoting inclusion. Collaboration and Networking: We recognized the importance of building partnerships and collaborating with other organizations and stakeholders in the field. Advocacy and Awareness: There was a critical need to raise awareness and advocate for greater support and inclusion of migrants and refugees within society.
