2020 and 2021 were years of uncertainty and upheaval. The pandemic, climate disasters, a noticeably widening division in society, dwindling trust in media, politics and science, increasingly hardened fronts and... isolation. More than ever, we felt the need for cross-border exchange, the dismantling of labels and the development of alternative tools to create an inclusive, responsible and participatory society. We firmly believe in the effectiveness of non-formal educational projects that combine art and youth development and take both aspects seriously: individual, social, political learning as well as art and creativity as fundamental forms of expression and communication of being human. We believe in the potential for innovation and the right of young people to be heard and take them seriously as artists. Potluck originally means a gathering in which each participant brings a meal without prior agreement, which is enough for several people and is shared with everyone. This way buffets come together with little effort and the larger the group, the more varied the selection. The outcome is mixed, colorful and unexpected. The topic of the performance had not been pre-defined. Groups from all countries with participants from various artistic backgrounds have been significantly involved in the development of the piece and encouraged to voice their opinions and concerns about their current life situation and the development of the European and global society. Suggestions for topics have been collected and opinions exchanged at national preparatory meetings, a transnational preparatory visit and via online tools. Under the guidance of the artistic team, the final title for the piece „Panta Rhei“ which gave a common umbrella to everybody's ideas and concerns and a framework that enabled the inclusion of the topics that were brought up by the participants, have been collectively determined. At „Creation Potluck (CPL22)“ we wanted to offer young artists access to resources and space to experiment, stage and audience to present the results of their research, and provide highly qualified educational and artistic specialists with experience in diversity-related youth work. The coaches helped them to articulate their artistic and socio-political ideas, visions and demands. We wanted to inspire the artists - 32 participants aged 18 to 30 years from 5 different European countries - to work transdisciplinary in order to create a performance together within 12 days, based on topics and forms of expression chosen by them. Young people with difficult access to cultural participation (migration background, disabled or disadvantaged young people) were included. We wanted to provide a diversity-inclusive safe space to challenge and to dismantle lables concerning nationality, ethnicity, gender, sexuality and body standards as well as an development oportunities for the participants. They have learned to work together in heterogeneous groups in respectful ways towards reaching a common goal and to learn from and respect each other.
