With the present project, we wanted to address the topic of the 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs). We believe that this topic is of great importance for Europe and all other parts of the world. Therefore, we are strongly convinced that projects and/or other activities that promote the SDGs are essential, if we, as society want to provide the prosperity for the whole humanity and save our planet. Through implementing the project, we were aiming to show, as the name of the project tells it itself, the actions must be taken not only globally but also and especially on the local level. Thus, the “GLocal Action”. The present project aimed to contribute to spread the information about the 17 SDGs and give to the participating organisations and young participants a greater insight into this very important topic. However, we wanted to bring nearer the content of the SDGs and show some good practices of the implementation of the goals and their application in the everyday life. Thus, the project aimed to be of an informative and practical nature. Through the planned activities, but especially through the Youth Exchange, the participants improved their knowledge about the SDGs and experienced some good practices and examples that are applicable in their environment, too. However, the main objectives of the project were gaining and/or improving knowledge about the SDGs, about the personal and common responsibility, about sustainable practices on a daily basis; raising awareness about the importance of the global aspect of the present problematic; implementing sustainable way of life, supporting long-term sustainable practices, raising the capacity of critical thinking about the information provided by (social) media, raising awareness about importance of solidarity towards environment and society. Moreover, throughout the international nature of the project, the objectives were raised respect and acceptance towards the differences (sex, gender, age, race, etc.), improved foreign language and mother tongue skills, gained and/or raised knowledge about others cultures’ traditions and customs, improved creative, musical and/or sport abilities, improved writing, documenting, filming or photographing skills, gained experience of the youth exchange in a foreign country (meeting with peers from EU). We implemented the project in a tight cooperation with the organisation “Welthaus-Hiša sveta Klagenfurt”, which is part of our office community, and this means we cooperate with the organisation on our daily basis.
