We live in the "age of choice" and the world seems to move faster than ever before. The endless possibilities and constant change can be overwhelming at times, challenging us to find our own way, both in terms of career and personal life. Especially in transitional phases from school to university or from university to work, the pressure to perform is high. Considering both the experiences from our personal everyday life and the impressions as youth workers, communication and well-being are the emerging issues that concern our generation. Youth work professionals and trainers face the challenge of designing programs and activities that meet the needs of youth participants also in terms of their well-being, because creating a space where participants feel safe and comfortable is the foundation for further learning and personal development. On the other hand, you need to keep your own well-being in mind to do well in your role and feel comfortable as an individual who is learning and developing. It can be difficult to find a balance, especially when you are volunteering alongside other commitments (in your spare time). JEF Steiermark, together with its partner organizations, decided to do something about this. Our training course supported in overcoming these difficulties in two ways at once. In the training course, youth work professionals and those who want to become professionals were trained to communicate the topic of well-being. They were given an insight into various methods and learned how to identify and specifically defuse stress factors both for themselves and for their work with young people. The trainer Fabrizio Gallo, the co-founder of the "New Wellness Education" was able to transfer his skills in the topics of communication and well-being to the participants using non-formal methods. During the training, the youth workers were also given the opportunity to develop and test their own workshops and methods on the topic. Especially the connection between well-being and competence development was always in the foreground.
