Objectives

The project was conceived in a democratic spirit that promotes the ideal of equality between the sexes. Aware of the beliefs and stereotypes present in the day-to-day reality of our youth center, but also in society at large, we felt it necessary to raise awareness of the construction of social gender roles, highlighting the historical and cultural factors that influence them. The main aim of this project was to trigger a change in mentality by tackling the issue of gender diversity and equality. To achieve this, young people from Belgium, France and Morocco took part in an intercultural exchange in Essaouira, Morocco. During the exchange, the young people took part in awareness-raising activities and acquired tools (photos and visual communication) to create posters that challenge gender stereotypes. Our aim was to put together a quality gender awareness poster exhibition they could be proud of. The main objectives of our project were multiple: - Promote gender equality: Through the project, we wanted to raise participants' awareness of the notions of equality, of their place in society and in the family. - Opening up to the world, to others: Exchanging young people from several countries will enable us to debate, discuss and confide in each other about realities, and so be able to change positions, preconceptions and, if necessary, readjust each other's visions. - Promote awareness of our individual and collective capacities and responsibilities. - Create the conditions for living together on the basis of respect and equality. - Develop our social and technical skills - Develop a spirit of cooperation and solidarity.
