The project aimed to achieve the following objectives: 1- Addressing Youth Unemployment: The project aimed to tackle the prevalent issue of youth unemployment, particularly in Europe and Belgium, which had been exacerbated by the global COVID-19 crisis. The alarming statistics of youth unemployment, such as the 64,000 increase in youth unemployment in May 2020 alone, highlighted the urgency of the problem. The project aimed to contribute to reducing youth unemployment rates and improving the employment prospects for young individuals. 2- Establishing a Youth Employment Network: The project aimed to establish a collaborative platform called "Network For Youth Unemployment - NETYU" that brought together 12 different institutions from the European Union and candidate countries. The network fostered cooperation and facilitated joint efforts in addressing youth employment challenges. By connecting institutions working on youth employment, the project aimed to enhance policy-making processes, strategizing, and identifying the specific needs of young people in terms of employment. 3- Providing Opportunities for Young People: Through NETYU, the project offered various opportunities to both institutions and young individuals. These opportunities included short and long-term mobility programs, internships, training programs, transnational capacity/skill development initiatives (both online and offline), as well as online and offline forums. By leveraging EU opportunities, the project aimed to empower young people and institutions to network and engage with decision-makers, fostering collaboration and facilitating the exchange of ideas and resources. 4- Aligned with EU Youth Goals: NETYU aligned with the EU youth strategy's goals for the project term, namely "Engage, Connect, and Empower." These goals aimed to involve young people in EU policy-making and implementation processes, facilitate networking among institutions, provide mobility opportunities to young individuals, and offer capacity development programs. The project's objectives directly coincided with EU Youth Goals 1, 2, 3, 7, 9, and 11, which focused on encouraging youth participation in democratic processes, fostering societal engagement, and promoting nonformal training for skills development. The project made a tangible contribution to these overarching objectives. Additionally, it is worth noting that the project aligned with the Erasmus+ program, which specifically addressed youth employment and skills development. By leveraging the program's resources and initiatives, the project directly contributed to enhancing the skills of young individuals and prepared them for the job market. Overall, the project's objectives revolved around establishing a collaborative network, providing opportunities for young people, and aligning with EU strategies and goals to combat youth unemployment and empower the youth in their career journeys.
