During the COVID crisis, lots of youth work organizations in Flanders starts to experiment with digital ways to stay in contact with children and youngsters. Some of these experiments became real forms of digital youth work. We organized already two inspirational days around this topic and one focusgroup. On the one hand to inspire other organizations to start with digital youth work, on the other hand to find out what the main tresholds are to organize digital youth work activitities. We came to five prejudices about digital youth work: Digital youthwork? Not a good idea because: 1. My participants will be sitting alone in front of their computer. 2. As a youthworker I have to post dances on TIK TOK and I’m not comfortable with that. 3. Only youthworkers with lots of training or expertise are able to do that. 4. It will cost a lot of money and time. 5. It is only possible with a group of wealthy children and younsters During a panel discussion with some experts in digital youth work, we tried to dispel these prejudices. But we need some more expertise and good practices to motivate Flemish youth organizations to start and experiment with digital youth work. For that we start to connect with Verke. The expertise organization about digital Youthwork in Finland. Together with the Finnish umbrella organizations for youth work Kanuuna and EVL, we are able to put together an interesting exchangeprogram about digital youthwork that fits the needs of the participating organizations.
