“Healthy Habits for Healthy life”, was a youth exchange that implemented in Larnaka, Cyprus, in order to promote healthy lifestyle and healthy habits among young people in order to prevent obesity and pathologies linked to nutritional disorders or sedentary life. The project idea was born because we, the 5 organizations involved in this project, observed in our communities that the time of COVID pandemic has had negative impact on YOUNG PEOPLE - on their habits, physical and mental well-being, how they relate to each other and how they view the world around them. In order to prevent further problems with well-being, mental health and disconnection and start recovering in our communities, we believe that it is very crucial to do grass-roots youth work activities by involving in them young people. We need to provide the space for youngsters to meet, connect, experience live youth non-formal activities that “touch” them and become more involved. Life of Europeans has changed nowadays and that has brought many changes in balanced nutrition as well as in physical activity of individuals. Lack of exercise is linked with many negative impacts on physical and mental health. The aims of the project were as follows: - To transfer NFE methodologies to youth/social workers, coaches and educators in order to promote healthy lifestyle and active citizenship in local activities with young people. - To raise awareness on the social evil represented by the widespread diffusion of sedentary and unhealthy lifestyles among younger generations in Europe. - To strengthen European cooperation among socially oriented actors in elaborating and implementing activities related to healthy lifestyle education, in particular of younger generations. Prevention and promotion of health habits are a real need in today’s society to improve the quality of life and to delay health problems. It is usually difficult to change adult’s bad habits and education provides the tools and procedures which will make the change easier. Adults may lack the confidence, resources or knowledge to find information on their own so it is important to create the right contexts to improve the situation. In this exchange of good practices, the approach between different countries and backgrounds helped us build up common European measures of awareness of prevention and the need of healthy habits. Aims: - To increase awareness of importance of prevention and healthy habits - To break false myths about nutrition and health - To develop critical thinking about the topic of health - To develop strategies to improve our lifestyle - To create authentic contexts for linguistic exchange - To improve healthy habits - To create innovative didactic materials - To promote equal opportunities regardless of age, gender, disability and race - To increase level of accepting and appreciating diversity and openness towards the world This project aimed to explore human health and what can help us feel better today, tomorrow, and for the rest of our lives. Its goal is to equip participants with knowledge and tools, with which they can more effectively address the challenges of our everyday life. In this youth exchange we focused on supporting a healthy lifestyle, healthy relationships with ourselves and between people, critical thinking, and taking deliberate actions in our lives. The goal of the project was to explore healthy lifestyle and well being so that young people understand the correlation between physical, emotional and moral sides, get aware of the impact our way of life has on personal achievements and well-being and are able to make the most suitable choices for themselves so as to improve their conditions and feel satisfied with their results. We have achieved the following project objectives during project period: Objective 1 - Inspired young people to adopt a healthy way of life and find the right balance for a quality life, Objective 2 - Stimulated young people to include physical activities and other healthy practices in their daily routine through the activities of the youth exchange and follow-up events, Objective 3 - Raised awareness on the issues some lifestyles can bring and motivate youngsters to solve them.
