Nowadays many people over the world are isolated from nature. They often do not notice any connection between their way of life, behaviour, consumption and those negative changes that occur in the environment at all levels - from local to global. Everyday ecology of our planet is deteriorating. Few people are interested to preserve and protect the natural environment. The main focus of this inter-cultural exchange was to work together as a group and raise the awareness of this problem first between peers and participants of the project and afterward to our local societies. Despite the fact, there are lots of project addressing environmental problems. Still it is not enough and still, people who live in deplorable conditions need support and involvement in solving environmental issues, which are harmful effects of human activities on the biophysical environment. The project’s direct target group was participants aged 13-30 y.o. The decision to work with this target group was made as the next generation will basically design our future, as well as the future of the whole planet, someday, they will be independent decision-makers, educators, and, who knows, maybe they will once become a worldwide known policy-maker. What we have taught, showed, motivated them today will undoubtedly affect their future day-to-day life choices and eco-friendly habits. Plus, participants learnt how to lead a sustainable and eco-friendly lifestyle and encouraged them to take responsibility for their actions and maintain a healthier planet. So, it was the perfect time to focus on preparing them for the changing world and environment. Participants worked on raising public interest towards environmental challenges of our planet. They were encouraged to carry out environmental projects and at the same time to work successfully within their local communities in the area of environmental advocacy and environmental education. The YE promoted environmental inclusion among youth from different countries, and encouraged them how to prevent pollution and how to spread the information about environmental problems to their local communities. Core objectives were: - To provide participants with the necessary skills, knowledge, and attitudes on inclusion of young people in activities which are connected to environmental issues; - To share opinions, approaches, experience, and information on environmental situation and learn from each other; - To find ways how to solve environmental problems in each country; - To promote healthy lifestyle activities for young people, in terms of environmental protection; - To raise awareness about recycling through artistic activities and creative workshops; - To increase the awareness about environmental pollution and its effect on our health; - To give young people an example of cooperation on the international level and encourage them to undertake similar activities in the future; Youth was brought together to: - exchange knowledge about environmental problems in their home countries and share ideas how to protect our nature, our health and reduce pollution by recycling; - learn how to convert waste materials into new products to prevent waste of potentially useful materials; - reduce the consumption of fresh raw materials, reduce energy usage, reduce air pollution and water pollution. - involve youth living in rural areas, in active social environmental activities; - spread eco-thinking when back to their hometowns. The project gave participants information on beneficial effects of reusing materials instead of throwing them into the garbage and increasing a big amount of waste. Furthermore, the project promoted tolerance, pluralism, respect, the exchange of ‘best practices’ on experiences of multicultural societies and encouraged cross-border cooperation among youth to prevent pollution and to spread the information in their local communities. Protecting Our Planet Starts With You, addressed environmental issues, through artistic creativity. We have also made use of digital tools for digital campaigns to raising public awareness, related to environmental challenges at European and local level. The project has drawn attention to the problem of maintaining a clean environment. During the YE, participants had the chance to discuss current issues, shared ideas how to preserve environment clean, how to simulate simple steps towards reducing the impact of negative factors, which were caused by counterfeiting of secondary raw materials.
