The EIO project aimed to improve entrepreneurship education by developing key skills in digital marketing, online presence and branding among youth workers and young people. Our aim was to increase their capacity to both teach and learn about setting up new businesses and engaging effectively with online markets. Specifically, the EIO project aimed to - Develop and disseminate educational tools and resources on entrepreneurship and online presence, thereby strengthening essential skills. - Improve the teaching skills and qualifications of youth workers in entrepreneurship and online presence, preparing them to better support young entrepreneurs. - To provide a strategy for youth workers to facilitate learning about entrepreneurship, focusing on online strategies and e-learning. Target groups for the EIO project included - Youth workers who need to improve their teaching methods and knowledge in delivering entrepreneurship programmes, especially those involving an online presence. - Young people, especially those with fewer opportunities, seeking specialised training to acquire the skills needed to start a business.
We initiated the Entrepreneurship is Online (EIO) project in response to the profound impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), which saw an increase in bankruptcies and a shift towards online consumer behaviour. This situation, exacerbated by competition from large e-commerce platforms, highlighted the urgent need for SMEs and young entrepreneurs to adapt to a digital business landscape. The EIO project specifically targets the need for digital transformation among aspiring young entrepreneurs, aiming to equip them with the skills to use digital tools and build a robust online presence. This is crucial for their businesses to survive and thrive post-pandemic. Despite growing up in a digital world, many young people face a digital divide that hinders their entrepreneurial potential. The EIO project aims to bridge this gap by providing training and resources to improve their online presence and digital skills, preparing them to operate successfully in the evolving EU market and beyond.
