Objectives

The primary objective of the project was to develop an inclusive and comprehensive training platform tailored for front-office staff. This platform will serve not only those newly onboarding but also unemployed individuals, people with disabilities, and those facing other disadvantages. The goal is to equip them with the essential skills and general knowledge required to proficiently work in operational roles within the hospitality industry.

Background

The primary motivation behind this project was to bolster the hospitality industry as it navigates recovery from the disruptive impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. This period saw significant employee attrition, with many workers leaving the industry. In response, hoteliers have been compelled to hire less qualified staff or individuals facing various disadvantages, such as disabilities or other barriers to employment. Our project addresses the urgent need to onboard new employees efficiently and effectively by focusing on the intersection of theoretical knowledge and practical skills within hospitality operations. Traditional high and university-level education programs often develop soft and hard skills in isolation, which can leave students unprepared for real-world service demands. To bridge this gap, our initiative aims to facilitate a comprehensive exchange of knowledge and foster a robust understanding of front office (FO) operations. This project, therefore, not only supports the recovery and stabilization of the hospitality industry but also contributes to a more inclusive and efficient employment landscape.
