The project aimed to combat stereotypes by challenging misconceptions about disabilities and shifting societal attitudes. It sought to showcase real-life achievements of disabled individuals to inspire others and foster their inclusion into society through creative arts and activities. Additionally, the project aimed to break internal biases and prejudices surrounding disability while promoting social cohesion through various creative mediums. Efforts were made to enhance accessibility by modifying environments to accommodate individuals with disabilities, while also equipping participants with new competencies for youth work and social inclusion. The project prioritized inclusivity by implementing universal design principles for broader accessibility and advocating for equality to combat discrimination against disabled individuals. The project aimed to develop resources for youth workers to promote social inclusion through art, gather real-life narratives of disabled people to highlight their accomplishments, organize performances and exhibitions to showcase their talents. It also established online platforms for widespread dissemination of project information and created a central hub for project resources, updates, and materials
The decision to apply for this project was motivated by the global challenge of integrating people with disabilities into everyday activities and ensuring their full participation in society. Despite representing 15% of the world's population, individuals with disabilities frequently face barriers that hinder their involvement in social, educational, and professional environments. These barriers can be physical, communicational, or attitudinal and often result in social exclusion and discrimination. Our project aimed to address these challenges by promoting social inclusion and dismantling the prejudices surrounding people with disabilities, specifically targeting the misconception that they are less capable of engaging in and contributing to various aspects of life. The project's main goal was to demonstrate that when given equal opportunities, people with disabilities can participate in society just as effectively as those without disabilities. By combining the strengths and experiences of these organizations, the project aimed to create a comprehensive approach to fostering social inclusion, developing innovative solutions, and sharing best practices across different European contexts.
