Moreover, project partners aimed to achieve as the final goal an increased and improved active participation and citizenship from the participants thanks to a better understanding of the scientific concept and increased mastery in new media.

Background

The DECRYPT project, in its transnational dimension, was in line with the relevance that the European Commission currently gives to the development of digital and scientific literacy competences, especially among adults, as a means to empower citizens in engagement and participation. An increasing demand by European citizens to be more informed as well as to receiving science education has been met. With these demands met, the project remained in line with the European Commission’s priorities to pursue science education for responsible citizenship and to follow The Digital Competence Framework 2.0, which considers information and data literacy to be one of the fundamental components of digital competence. DECRYPT project intended to bridge the expertise and best practices from the partner countries and organizations to foster the involvement of adults in STEM and digital media, with the final objective to improve the active participation and citizenship of adults thanks to a better understanding of basic scientific concepts as well as an increased mastery in new media.
