Objectives

The primary objective of the TwinRevolution was to align VET offerings with the evolving needs of manufacturing and traditional sectors, facilitating a successful twin digital and green transition. The project developed innovative training tools to upskill and reskill VET learners—ranging from students to current workers—by equipping them with essential digital and green skills. TwinRevolution focused on four main objectives: - Launch a Blueprint providing an overview of the twin transition in manufacturing and the necessary green and digital skills to enhance the VET system. - Design a Joint Curriculum for VET to address the needs and priorities of the twin transition in manufacturing SMEs. - Offer pioneering training resources to reskill the European workforce, preparing them as agents of change for a circular and smart industrial ecosystem. - Launch an interactive tool & e-training course for VET learners and providers to guide greener and more digital management in manufacturing. The project aimed to upskill VET learners for the twin transition while equipping VET providers with innovative resources, improving the quality of VET activities, increasing employability, supporting policy-makers, and raising societal awareness.

Background

The consortium applied for this project to address the urgent need for reskilling and upskilling in Europe’s traditional manufacturing industries, particularly in furniture and textile sectors, to meet the demands of the twin digital and green transitions. The European Green Deal and New Industrial Strategy emphasise the importance of digital technologies in achieving sustainability goals, but industries like furniture and textile, employing nearly 3 million workers, have been slow to adopt innovation, with digital intensity at just 15% & 10% respectively. TwinRevolution bridges this skills gap by developing innovative training resources tailored to these two sectors. It focuses on reskilling the workforce with the digital and green competencies needed to remain competitive, aligning with the European Skills Agenda. The project also updates VET programs to meet the specific needs of SMEs through the creation of a Joint Curriculum and new learning modules. By offering interactive training materials like video and digital tools, the project empowers both workers and VET learners. Additionally, TwinRevolution supports SMEs in adopting sustainable practices and smarter production methods, ensuring long-term industry competitiveness.
