We all strive for a better, faster and clearer communication with outside world and in our daily activities. Communication is the most efficient way of exchanging information, learning and expressing ourselves. Regarding the aspect of personal development, artistic methods are very powerful as they give an opportunity for self-discovery and self-expression. Many theories recognize art as one of the first manifestations of the human soul: the need of expression, the way of communication. We carried our this project , “ARTcommun for YOUth” because our aim was to expand the ways of communication and self-expression of young people through art, as well as using art as a tool of active involvement in the community and active social participation. Using various artistic methods and tools, the project boosted the communication skills of international youth, gave them opportunity to express themselves via art, via team work they painted their work of arts , giving a message , created a platform for social and intercultural dialogue, specially for those youngsters with fewer opportunities who lack verbal expression because of different life reasons. In this sense, art was a tool for not only communication, but also integration, inclusion, participation and a language capable of connecting individuals to each other regardless of their culture, social affiliation or physical integrity. Thus, art also served as a path towards self-knowledge and a factor of personal development of young people. The main goal of the Youth Exchange was to explore the concept of “Active Communication through Art”, “Community Art” as a state of physical and mental self-reflection and by implementing practical and fun activities to enhance active communication among multicultural youth, raise their team spirit, share their experiences with international peers and remove the obstacles of verbal and expressive communication The objectives of the youth exchange were: To improve communication and self-reflection skills of participants using expressive arts methods To break the communication barriers of participating young people and boost active community involvement through artistic activities To explore the concepts of self-development and self-expression of young generation on the personal and community level To supply participants with artistic tools and methods, as well as practical experiences, which can be used in promoting intercultural communication and intercultural approach To develop follow-up projects for international cooperation to further elaborate the topics of current project and create the thematic continuation based on the needs of participants. The objectives of the projects were linked to the objectives of Erasmus + as they touched the notion of young people’s personal development, inclusion, active participation in their community life and create intercultural dialogue between peers from different countries
