With our project "Change Today for a Better Tomorrow", we wanted to address the topic of environmental protection and healthy lifestyles by implementing a youth exchange on this topic. By spending ten days outdoors on a Campsite being connected with nature, we wanted for our participants to learn about nature protection and healthy lifestyles through being in nature and being active and sporty together. We aimed to address the lack of motivation and clear information that many youngsters have regarding sports and active lifestyles. Through organizing activities such as outdoor games, canoeing and hiking, we wanted to encourage the participants to try out new activities and discover the fun sides of being physically active together. We furthermore wanted to inspire our participants to become activists for environmental protection and sustainability. We believed that young people will care more about the environment if they experience its beauty and understand the fragility of ecosystems, and if they get the chance to connect with other young people in order to learn about other ideas and lifestyles. Additionally, we planned to address the lack of knowledge about healthy food and eating habits. On the camping project, we involve our participants in the cooking process, organize meals where we source only food from local organic farms and become creative in inventing new recipes with those ingredients. Our long-term objectives were to inspire our participants to become change-makers in their local communities and to create connections to plan local actions for environmental protection and the promotion of a healthy lifestyle.
