Objectives

The objectives of the "Energy Forever II - Youth exploring the reasoning and opportunities of alternative energies" project were as follows: Introduce participating youth from seven different countries to the imminent changes in transitioning from a fossil fuel-dominated world to one dominated by renewable energy. Deepen the understanding of the participants regarding the imminent changes and the dimensions of the threats associated with the transition to renewable energy. Strengthen the participants' experience and increase the challenge by implementing a special setup in terms of accommodation, food choices, means of transportation (bicycles and trains), and direct contact with nature. Provide participants with firsthand experiences of various alternative energy sources through on-site visits, interviews, and interaction with experts in the field. Empower participants to apply similar strategies in their own organizations and communities through peer learning, workshops, interviews, and open debates. Enhance participants' skills in debating, presentation, and working with non-formal methods. Increase awareness of the mechanisms, regulatory frameworks, and policies that can contribute to the demanded turnaround toward renewable energy. Shed light on the progress and initiatives that have already been undertaken in terms of alternative energy, addressing the misconception that political announcements are merely promises. Utilize Mecklenburg-Strelitz and Cis Pomerania as examples and showcases to examine the transition to alternative energy, focusing on the German government's goals of phasing out nuclear energy and achieving a 50% share of renewable energy, as well as meeting the EU goals for sustainable growth. Foster a sense of closeness to nature and the environment through outdoor travel, biking, and self-directed learning activities. Encourage teamwork, social skills, and cooperation among participants through group challenges and shared experiences. Analyze the downsides and potential dangers of various energy sources, such as biofuels and transitional energies like gas, and explore possibilities for supporting the decarbonization process in participants' home countries. By implementing the project, the aim was to create an enriching and transformative experience for the participants, equipping them with knowledge, skills, and perspectives that would empower them to become active agents of change in the transition to a sustainable and renewable energy future.
