We applied for a Training Course called "#NoHateSpeech," which is a training programme designed to improve youth work tools and strategies for combating hate speech and hate crimes directed against minority youth, especially Roma, refugee, and migrant young people, both online and offline. The TC took place in Wuppertal, Germany, from the 22nd of March to the 30th of March in 2023. Our project's major purpose was to strengthen the intercultural competency of youth workers in order to prevent and counteract hate speech and hate crimes directed against young people from diverse cultural backgrounds, especially minorities, refugees, and migrants. This was our project's primary objective. Our group held the belief that youth workers had an important part to play in the process of fostering cultural awareness and developing a society that is more accepting and tolerant of diversity. We organised local and international youth work programmes with the goal of accomplishing this purpose. These activities aimed to bring together young people of many cultural backgrounds. They were able to work together, share their experiences, and gain a greater knowledge of one other's cultural traditions as a result of participating in these activities. We have produced resources and strategies that youth workers may use to prevent and counteract hate speech and hate crimes in the course of their work. These tools and strategies can be found here. Our initiative aimed to accomplish a number of particular goals, one of which was to arrange 32 local youth work events in the last and coming 2 years that would cater to the requirements of the target groups by conducting offline and online campaigning. In these events, local young people who had been impacted by hate speech online and at the local level via media and familial background participated. Online hate speech had a direct impact on these young people. We also focused on young individuals with refugee origins who came from completely different cultures, including some who were still struggling to recover from the trauma caused by their earlier experiences in life. Another aim of the initiative was to encourage participation in at least 16 distinct international youth exchanges from young people from a variety of cultural backgrounds. Because of these exchanges, young people were able to collaborate in intercultural teams, which aided in the battle against social exclusion and prejudice faced by young people from diverse cultural backgrounds. This purpose was very important because it gave young people the opportunity to learn about various cultures and have a more in-depth grasp of the problems that are relevant to them. One of our goals was to initiate the formation of partnerships between 11 local youth organisations belonging to the host partner and the other ten partners in our consortium in order to ensure that the outputs of the project would continue to foster future intercultural collaboration. This purpose was very important because it made it possible for us to establish long-term collaborations that would, in the years to come, continue to work towards fostering intercultural understanding and preventing hate speech and hate crimes. In order to accomplish these goals, we worked to improve the participants' and the organisations' awareness of the origins, forms, and repercussions of hate speech. The participants were expected to leave the training session with a stronger awareness of the influence that hate speech has on society, which was one of the course's primary learning objectives. Participants also gained the knowledge necessary to identify and successfully react to acts of hate speech and hate crimes. Throughout the whole of the project, we monitored our progress towards reaching these goals by utilising online surveys, verbal and written assessments, as well as the number of local and international youth exchanges and the effectiveness of those exchanges. By doing so, we would be able to monitor our progress towards the achievement of our objectives and modify our strategy as required.
